Harold Ciccio

Harold b.1927 was born in Downsville, NY. Moving to Liberty when he was 16, he worked delivering 350 lbs. blocks of ice to rooming houses in this area in 1943. He served in the Navy during WWII. After returning to civilian life, Harold married Dorothy Sheely b.1930-2007 and raised one daughter. At age 23, he began working at Inter-County Coop Feed Mill in 1950, bagging feed until he became a driver. He delivered feed to all the egg farms in Sullivan, Orange and Ulster County. In 1963, he married Mary Kopatz b.1922-2001 and helped to raise her three children. In 1968, he bought his own truck and took over Inter-County feed delivery operations for the largest egg farms. By 1970, he was handling all poultry feed deliveries for Inter-County until the large egg farms went out of business and Inter-County closed. He then began to deliver bagged ice in the region. He still owns Ciccio Trucking, still drive occasionally and now delivers ice and water.
